Purpose:

Create a common provider interface and object schema for "user-managed objects" that is implementable on both legacy WAN devices and NFV devices.

  • Create a communication vector for Users wanting cloud object transparency across the industry via establishing a framework that supports "user objects" with an API to access them.
  • The User Managed Object schema / pattern should be decoupled from the API protocol
  • The framework needs to be modular to allow swapping out objects, and the API itself.
  • Leverage existing SDO work (Redfish) to establish a framework document, and user managed object registry
  • Provide use cases using the methodology
    • vBG
    • NIST compliance transparency (FIPS)
    • Link State, Attributes, and utilization (allow applications to optimize how they use a service)
    • User OAM
    • Legacy in-band user interface
  • Deliverables include
    • Positioning and messaging statement
    • Branding
    • White papers, Web page, conference, presentations
    • Framework Document (UMOF & API)
    • UMOF registry
  • Scope (TBD)
  • Timeline (TBD)
