Our transformation has been designed to ensure broadband technologies and their ecosystems are enhanced and developed further to meet the demands of the coming era of 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), automation, virtualization, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). We have seen new Work Areas launched, we have developed the increasingly successful BASe events around the world, we are co-operating with other industry forums and our interoperability pavilion at the Broadband World Forum in Berlin was our most successful yetFrom the scope of our work to the reach our organization, both in terms of geography and business size, we are truly an egalitarian organization that continues to pioneer the broadband industry. Among the progress at our recent Q1 meeting was important work around 5G. Having handed recommendations to 3GPP, the collaboration continues to ensure a smooth transition of the Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) work as the details are documented in specifications by both bodies. This highlights the important role Broadband Forum is taking in developing 5G by making recommendations for the connection points between the fixed and 5G mobile core networks, driving core convergence.
